FAQ – General

Here are frequently asked questions that you may or may not have about the website and other general questions. I will add to this list as more are asked. If you have a question, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks!

Do any of the swampers know about SPN.com?
Yes quite a few of them do! See special tweets from Troy & RJ.

When, and why did you decide to make a Swamp People fansite?
There were only a few Swamp People fan resources online, and I had plans to make one during the first season, but I didn’t get around to doing it until towards the end of the 2nd season. I wanted a place online where fans can get news and meet other fans, and talk about Swamp People all in one place.

What kind of news will I find here?
Aside from general news reports, news associated with the History Channel, TV appearances, contests/giveaways, promotions, cast member (current & former) news and updates, pretty much anything! Most news will be posted on the main page; other news will most likely be tweeted or posted on SPN’s Facebook page.

How did you come up with the name?
I wanted something easy and fan-based. So I played around with different names and combinations, and I came up with SwampPeopleFanpage.com. I just like the way it sounded. Short, simple, and easy to remember. Update as of 02/06/2012: I changed the name of the website to SwampPeopleNews.com. It just stuck with me all day and at the last minute I decided to make a few adjustments.

Is this an official Swamp People website?
Nope. Made by a fan.

Do you get paid for doing this website?
No. I do this on my own free time.

What kind of content will I find here?
For now, not too much. Just general news, updates, basic information, videos, photos, etc.

How can I credit you?
If you got it from my website or networked websites, and/or if it’s tagged, please credit me (Joyce @ SwampPeopleNews), or credit its rightful owner(s).

I love your website. Can I help you out?
I’m not looking for co-webmasters or anything like that, but you are welcome to submit news, local items (publications, flyers, etc. especially!) photos, information, video footage, audio, links, etc. I’ll give you credit. 80% of this website will be based on visitor/reader interaction so by you commenting, taking the polls, subscribing, and being apart of the social networking sites, discussions on Facebook, etc.

How often will you be updating the website?
As often as I can, if there is something to blog about, or anything I find newsworthy. I check e-mails many times throughout the day via online and mobile. Also, I encourage you to take advantage of the SPN.com Twitter. Some items I may update there that may not be on the main page of the website.

How can I get information/see new posts if I am not able to access the website?
Just in case of downtime due to website traffic or whatever the case may be, I have provided many ways to get the latest updates. If you are not able to access the main page, follow SPN on Twitter (set up your notifications), Facebook, or you can subscribe to the news feed to get updates via your e-mail inbox.

Does your website come in a mobile version?
Yes, by default you can access my website in your mobile browser and it will respond to your device.

Is your website credible?
As far as news and historical sources, yes, for the most part. I get my information from credible online resources, other sources, and videos. If I am not sure, I will research and post the information I have found, or not post it at all until further details & information arise.

How can I contact you?
Twitter is the best for a quicker response, but you can visit the contact page for more.

I sent you an e-mail, and no response. Are you ignoring me?
I usually check all of my e-mails and messages a few times a day, or whenever I have the time. Now, if it’s an ambiguous e-mail, SPAM, asking me the same things over and over again, harassment, most likely you will not get a response.

How long did it take you to make this website?
1 year and ½ on and off…

What player programs do I need to have installed/download to view media on your website?
Adobe Flash, RealPlayer, QuickTime, iTunes, Windows Media Player.
